Scent of an Atelier

For the exhibition of Maria Pomianski, I created a fragrance based on the scent of her atelier.

The work began with the question of whether a space can be captured through its smell. An atelier carries traces of its activities: materials, solvents, wood, paint, dust, objects and the presence of the artist. These olfactory traces become part of the identity and memory of a place, although they often remain unnoticed.

I translated these impressions into a perfume: an olfactory portrait of Maria Pomianski’s atelier.

The fragrance does not reproduce the space literally. Instead, it reconstructs its atmosphere through scent, transforming an ephemeral and invisible quality of the atelier into a sensory work.

A place remembered through its smell.
